Chaplaincies
In
witnessing love and meeting the needs of the Church, it is a
privilege to help and walk with people as they prepare to meet the
Lord Jesus. At Our Lady’s Haven where I assist, residents are
welcomed by receiving the Sacrament of the Sick for Catholics and a
prayer of welcome to others. Every three months, this procedure is
repeated or when needed. Mass is celebrated each morning at 9:30.
There are special devotions offered such as: Stations of the Cross,
Holy Hours, May Crowning, Scripture sessions, etc. As a person
approaches their encounter with the Lord Jesus, daily visits are
made and prayers offered and support given to the family, with
attendance at the wake or funeral. Also, the spiritual needs of
the employees are to be met. Other SS.CC. members involved in
chaplain ministries are Fr. Michael Annunziato, ss.cc., who is chaplain at
Sacred Hearts Home in New Bedford, Massachusetts and Fr. Owen
Goodwin, ss.cc., who is chaplain of Veterans Cemetery in Rhode
Island.
