Work began on Monday, July 14, to replace the granite stairs at the entrance to St. Joseph Church.  According to pastor Fr. Tom McElroy, ss.cc., the project should take approximately three weeks and is being performed by John A. Sylvia, III, Masonry & Home Improvements.  In photos above, a worker directs the placement of one of the heavy granite steps (top), rotted beams and bricks below the stairs (above, left), and construction company owner John A. Sylvia, lll, chips away at the old bricks that offered partial support for the steps.
