Fr. Bill Petrie, ss.cc., Provincial, announced on October 30, 2006, the reassignment of Fr. Pat Fanning, ss.cc., to the Bahamas.  Fr. Pat began serving the Roman Catholic Community of Long Island in 2000. In August of 2005, he left his pastoral ministry to oversee the USA Eastern Coast Province’s Pre-novitiate Program in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.
Fr. Pat plans to restart his pastoral duties on December 1, 2006. In a recent correspondence Fr. Pat wrote, “I had the opportunity to call Deacon Darville on the Island. He mentioned that they have not had Mass (or the presence of a priest) for about eight weeks. I know personally that I am very happy in being able to return to the mission on Long Island.”
